The Oriental Serotine is a medium-sized insectivorous bat found in South and Southeast Asia, including India, Pakistan, Nepal, and parts of China. It occupies a range of habitats, including dry scrublands, woodlands, and sometimes human dwellings.

This bat has short, dense fur that is usually dark brown on the back and slightly lighter underneath. It has broad wings and a robust body, with a wingspan of around 25–30 cm. Like other serotine bats, it is a fast flier and feeds on a variety of nocturnal insects.

The Oriental Serotine typically roosts in crevices, buildings, or under bark, often singly or in small groups. It is nocturnal and uses echolocation to hunt.
